West Ham in talks to sign Dewsbury-Hall as January transfer priority emerges

West Ham United are mulling over signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea on loan this month, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcasters reported via the transfer blog on their website on 6 January that the Irons chiefs are keeping tabs on the midfielder, with internal discussions being held to determine if he fits into the transfer strategy.

Loan deals are said to be the East London outfit’s priority this month after spending over £100million in the summer, but they are yet to decide if they want to make such a move for the 26-year-old.

West Ham eye Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall amid manager turmoil

The January transfer window is now open and ideally, the focus should be on squad reinforcements.

However, at West Ham, the spotlight is currently on Julen Lopetegui, who has been sacked by the hierarchy, according to talkSPORT.

Lopetegui’s place was under threat last month, but David Sullivan and co have waited until the transfer window opened to pull the plug on the Spaniard.

While the window is still in its early stages, the situation puts whoever is set to replace Lopetegui at a major disadvantage as they would have little time to adapt to the circumstances.

The Hammers hierarchy may have shortlisted Dewsbury-Hall as an ideal addition, but the new head coach would want to assess his squad before making any transfer calls.

West Ham
Graham Potter is on the radar of West Ham United.

Graham Potter appears to be the preferred choice to take the reins at the London Stadium as things stand.

Should he arrive on a short-term deal until the end of the season as reported, he may have little say on transfers this window.

In other West Ham news, this manager could be days away from taking the reins at the London Stadium.
