West Ham in race to sign Bournemouth 28-year-old – report
West Ham are in pursuit of Bournemouth forward Josh King, according to The Express.
The newspaper claims that Everton, Leeds and “several” European clubs are also interested in signing the 28-year-old, who is valued at a massive £30million by the Cherries despite their relegation to the Championship.
King scored six goals in 26 Premier League appearances last term as the south coast club dropped out of the top-flight but his overall record of 48 goals in 161 Premier League appearances is likely to be what has caught the eye of West Ham.
However, a deal for the Norway international could be difficult for the Hammers to pull off.
It depends on how tough a stance Bournemouth will take on King’s future but the Irons are unlikely to be spending big this summer.
According to Football.London, David Moyes needs to sell a few players before he can strengthen this squad this summer and once he does raise funds, his priority is going to be to upgrade his leaky defence.
Albian Ajeti has left the London Stadium to join Celtic but West Ham do have options in the centre-forward position.
Michail Antonio wowed fans with his performances up front at the back-end of last season while the club invested heavily in Sebastien Haller in 2019 and they might try to see if they can improve him rather than throw more money at new strikers.
King is a good striker and is probably too good for the Championship.
But, would he be worth the £30million that Bournemouth want for him? We doubt it. And we also doubt West Ham would be able to pay it.
In other West Ham news, the club will sell this player if £45million is offered for him.
