West Ham in race against clock to get Kurt Zouma registered in time to play Crystal Palace

West Ham have until 12pm tomorrow (Friday) to get Kurt Zouma registered in time to play against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on Wednesday, as shown in a clip on Football Daily, Sheth reported that the Hammers are “close to agreeing a deal” for the 26-year-old Chelsea centre-back.

He added that “there is still work to be done” as personal terms are “still to be finalised”.

The Sky Sports journalist added: “If they are to get this deal done and have him available for Crystal Palace at the weekend, they would have to register him by midday on Friday.”

Race against the clock

It would be very handy to have Zouma available to play against Crystal Palace this weekend.

While David Moyes’ men have started the season fantastically, they have still conceded three goals with two of them being scored by relegation candidates Newcastle.

Clearly, there is work to be done to this backline but as the old saying goes, ‘you never change a winning team’.

If Zouma is registered in time to play against Palace, he might make the bench but we would not expect the Frenchman to start.

Moyes’ side has enough about it already to beat the South London outfit, especially in front of what will no doubt be a rocking London Stadium.

Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonnna managed to keep Jamie Vardy quiet on Monday night and maybe they need a bit of momentum to improve their rhythm and earn a first clean sheet of the season.

One potential boost is that if Zouma arrives, it could elevate the performances of the current defenders.

Extra competition is always healthy.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have been offered this prolific striker by a giant club.
