West Ham in Josh Brownhill transfer swoop amid Lopetegui development

West Ham United are keen to sign Josh Brownhill from Burnley during the ongoing transfer window, according to GiveMeSport.

The outlet reported via their website on 8 January that the Irons are trying to add new players to their midfield this month, with Brownhill named on their shortlist after initially entering their radar during David Moyes’ tenure.

With the 29-year-old in the final six months of his contract at Turf Moor, the Hammers chiefs could look to sign him on a cut-price deal this window, with Julen Lopetegui’s imminent exit unlikely to affect those plans.

However, they face competition for his signature as he is also considering offers from clubs abroad.

West Ham want to sign ‘Top-class’ Josh Brownhill

At 29, the Burnley captain would add experience and English blood to West Ham’s midfield.

Brownhill has been in fine form for Burnley this season, bagging nine goals and three assists in 25 Championship appearances.

Therefore, he could be a valuable addition to the Hammers, whether they sign him on a cut-price deal this month or free in the summer.

However, they must be wary of competition from overseas clubs as they can now discuss a pre-contract agreement with the Englishman.

Apart from Brownhill, West Ham have also been credited with an interest in signing Chelsea duo Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Carney Chukwuemeka on loan this window.

They are likely to sign one of them on a temporary deal before the window slams shut on 3 February.
