West Ham in hunt to sign free agent Dan-Axel Zagadou after Borussia Dortmund release
West Ham are in hot pursuit of available defender Dan-Axel Zagadou following his release from Borussia Dortmund, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.
Writing via his personal Patreon account on Sunday (7 August), Nixon reported that the 23-year-old centre-back is in talks with a number of clubs as he looks to find a new home.
Roma and Inter Milan are reportedly among the clubs keen on signing the former France Under-21 international, who was on the books at Paris Saint-Germain before heading to Dortmund in 2017.

Nixon claims that West Ham see Zagadou as a squad player who’d add some depth to the squad if Issa Diop leaves the London Stadium this summer.
Clever signing
Zagadou would be a decent addition to add some depth to the squad.
West Ham have already spent a lot of money this summer so picking up a decent freebie to add an extra option in the defence wouldn’t be a bad idea.
However, Zagadou is young and was once someone who was tipped to have a lot of potential in the game and that’s understandably led to an increased amount of interest in his signature.
David Moyes does have some solid centre-back options at his disposal and once Nayef Aguerd is back from injury, Zagadou will probably be nowhere near the starting line-up.

That could be a bad thing for West Ham in their bid to sign the former PSG centre-back because he’s bound to want to head somewhere where he’ll be getting a decent amount of game-time after a slow spell at Dortmund.
If Inter Milan and Roma are offering a more senior role for the 23-year-old defender then it’s more likely that they’ll win the race for his signature.
We’re not that optimistic about this one but it’s good to see the Hammers thinking along these tracks.
