West Ham in Harry Amass deadline scramble as permanent Man United exit on the cards

West Ham United are firmly in the mix to sign Manchester United youngster Harry Amass ahead of the transfer deadline.

The Hammers may look to sign a new left-back after the departure of Malick Diouf, who left to join Brentford in a £40million deal.

Nuno Espirito Santo has so far trusted Ollie Scarles in place of Diouf, and the jury is out on his performances.

The Irons are still in the market ahead of Tuesday's deadline, but could also make some sales of their own.

But Amass is now on their radar at the crucial stage, with his Man United future facing a crossroads.

West Ham in mix for Harry Amass amid new update

According to Sky Sports on Monday, Amass is attracting interest from several EFL clubs, including West Ham.

The Hammers are named alongside Norwich City, Birmingham City and Burnley, who are all keen on the defender after his impressive loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday last term.

It's said that Burnley have held initial talks with the Red Devils over a permanent move for the 19-year-old, but a loan transfer has not been ruled out.

Man United are keen to add another left-back to their squad, with Aston Villa's Ian Maatsen of interest, and it could allow space for Amass to depart.

How did Amass play in the Championship last season?

Amass had a chance to impress Michael Carrick during pre-season, but looks set for a move away from the club on deadline day.

Though he was part of the team that was relegated to League One with Sheffield Wednesday, his first half of the season saw him deemed the Owls' best player.

He then moved to Norwich on loan, making one appearance before suffering a season-ending injury.

West Ham could get themselves a star, but do face competition.
