West Ham in advanced talks to sign Nikola Milenkovic

West Ham are in advanced talks to sign Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic and have offered £14million for the Serbian international, according to The Express.

The newspaper claims that Tottenham are also keen on signing the 23-year-old as they aim to replace Toby Alderweireld.

However, it is understood that the Hammers are leading the chase for Milenkovic and are reportedly willing to pay up to £17million for the Serie A centre-back.

Edging closer

West Ham are finally getting close to signing a new outfield player – and it’s fair to say we’re quite excited by this one.

Milenkovic is fairly young at the age of 23, he’s got his best years ahead of him, he’s proven himself in Serie A and represents somewhat of a bargain for the fees involved.

The Serbian is in the final year of his contract at Fiorentina and the Italian club are open to selling him.

That means his market value is lower than what he’s actually worth and it’s great to see West Ham profit on something like that.

It also means that if a day comes to sell Milenkovic, the Hammers stand a good chance of getting a good return on the Fiorentina ace.

David Moyes must be delighted to finally be making progress in what is a major deal for the Hammers.

They need to strengthen their centre-back options and a player with over 120 appearances in Serie A should be a clever addition.

He could learn a lot from more experienced players like Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna too, as well as Moyes himself and Stuart Pearce.

We’re excited to see how this one pans out so let’s pray the deal gets done before the start of the Premier League season next week.

In other West Ham news, this player is now an option for the Irons after he quit a London club last week.
