West Ham in advanced talks to sign Andre Silva as Sky Sports reveal details
West Ham United are in advanced talks to sign Andre Silva from RB Leipzig, according to Philipp Hinze.
The Sky Deutschland journalist reported via his personal X account (23 January) that the discussions revolve around a loan arrangement until the end of the season with the Irons holding an option to make it permanent.
“Constructive negotiations” are ongoing, although a final agreement is yet to be reached and other Bundesliga clubs are still interested in the striker.
Graham Potter to finally get his striker at West Ham
West Ham identified centre-forward as an area that needs strengthening long before the winter transfer window opened. In truth, they hoped to finish the season with Julen Lopetegui when they drew up that plan.
While the Spaniard is no longer at the London Stadium, the need for a new goalscorer has only increased with Niclas Fullkrug picking up a long-term injury alongside Michail Antonio.
One would be forgiven for losing track of the number of strikers the Hammers have been credited with an interest during the ongoing transfer window.
However, Graham Potter may be finally getting the number nine that he wanted, with talks over a loan deal for Silva, 29, progressing.
The Portugal international is not the most exciting goalscorer in the market, but Cristiano Ronaldo once hailed him as a “phenomenal” player [Bundesliga, 31 May 2023].

Do not get your hopes high yet as there are no guarantees that this transfer will go through.
It would not be a surprise if the East London outfit decided to wait until Brighton made a decision over Evan Ferguson [The Athletic], who would be a younger and better option than Silva.
