West Ham in £30m Rodrigo Muniz swoop after Graham Potter talks today

West Ham United are considering a move for Rodrigo Muniz after Graham Potter held talks with the board over recruitment on Wednesday, according to Jacob Steinberg.

The journalist reported via The Guardian website on 15 January that the Irons are mulling over signing Muniz on loan from Fulham with the possibility of a £30million buy obligation also discussed.

Potter’s side could raise funds for new signings by selling £25.5m summer signing Luis Guilherme, who is the subject of interest from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club.

Muniz, meanwhile, is behing Raul Jimenez in the pecking order at Fulham, but was on red-hot form in the second half of last season, with Marco Silva dubbing him “special” after his goalscoring performance in a 3-3 draw with Sheffield United in March [BBC].

‘Special’ Rodrigo Muniz would be an underrated signing at West Ham

Muniz is only one of several strikers linked with a move to the London Stadium in recent days as the Hammers step up their hunt for a new number nine following long-term injuries to Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio.

It is worth noting that Steinberg also mentioned Evan Ferguson, Taiwo Awoniyi and Andre Silva as potential options for West Ham during the winter transfer window.

However, Muniz would be an underrated signing for Potter’s side even though he playing second fiddle to Jimenez at Fulham.

The Brazilian bagged nine goals and an assist between February and May last season and has contributed to five goals across all competitions this term.

Having spent over £100m on new signings last summer, the East London outfit may have to raise funds through player sales to afford Muniz’s £30m buy obligation at the end of the season, but may prove to be worth it.
