West Ham’s PSR concerns this summer are forcing Graham Potter to be smart in the transfer window.

The Hammers will be forced to sell to buy, with financial restrictions limiting their spending power.

As a result, Potter is looking into different markets to sign potential bargains and limit the London club’s spending.

Now, Potter’s pursuit of Raphael Onyedika has taken a positive turn as the London club looks to reinforce their midfield.

West Ham close in on Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge

The Nigerian international has impressed at Club Brugge and scored past Manchester City in the Champions League earlier in the campaign.

£20 million is estimated to be the cost for Onyedika this summer after another successful campaign in Belgium.

Now, according to the Sunday Mirror, page 67 (1 June), talks between West Ham and the midfielder’s agents have been “positive”.

However, the Hammers face stiff competition for his signature, with multiple clubs in Europe also pursuing the 24-year-old.

Onyedika could be a bargain for West Ham

For £20 million, Potter is unlikely to find a better midfielder for the price.

Onyedika’s feats are extremely impressive given that he is only 24 years old.

In Belgium, the midfielder has won numerous cups, and he wowed in the Champions League this season as they reached the round of 16.

On top of this, he is a successful international player and was part of the Nigerian squad that reached the African Cup of Nations final in 2023.

Hopefully, Potter is able to quickly get the transfer over the line in the coming weeks before the other interested parties make a move.
