West Ham United are set to face another test of their resolve as Manchester United could come back to the table for Crysencio Summerville.

The Netherlands winger is attracting plenty of interest following the Hammers' relegation from the Premier League last season.

Summerville, 24, has seen his stock rise through a series of impressive performances at the World Cup, though the Oranje suffered a disappointing last-32 exit.

West Ham's demotion to the second tier has necessitated the need to balance the books, which has already led to the sale of Mateus Fernandes.

The Portugal midfielder has joined Tottenham in an £85million deal, just a year after joining from Southampton for £40m.

Summerville may now be the next out the exit door at the London Stadium, as West Ham gear up for increased interest.

Manchester United not Crysencio Summerville's only suitors

Fernandes ultimately ended up moving to Spurs despite strong interest from Manchester United.

But the Red Devils are seemingly still in conversation with West Ham over the availability of Summerville.

The Daily Mail reports that Man United have held "exploratory talks" with the Hammers over Summerville's availability.

Any move for Summerville is thought to depend on whether Marcus Rashford is sold this summer, with his future unclear.

However, the Mail also reports that clubs from abroad, as well as other Premier League teams are enquiring about the possibility of signing Summerville.

West Ham already have a plan to follow for Summerville sale

Losing Summerville so soon after Fernandes would, obviously, be a fresh blow for West Ham, even if most would expect it.

But, there is a clear blueprint West Ham can follow from their sale of Fernandes if Summerville is to depart.

The news that other clubs as well as Man United are interested holds the key for West Ham in this scenario.

The Irons proved with Fernandes that they would not budge on their valuation, and ultimately they got a fantastic deal in the end.

Man United were also in the running against Spurs for Fernandes, but did not fancy meeting West Ham's valuation.

However, the competition for his signature gave West Ham real leverage when it came to holding firm on their asking price.

If Summerville is attracting interest from elsewhere other than Old Trafford, then it stands to reason they can use that to ensure they drive as high a price as possible if an exit has to be sanctioned.
