West Ham have held positive talks with Corinthians over Yuri Alberto

West Ham have held positive talks with Brazilian side Corinthians over the signing of striker Yuri Alberto, but there is still work to do to reach an agreement, according to Sky Sports.

The sports news outlet shared via their Transfer Centre website [09:59] that West Ham technical director Tim Steidten has held talks with the Brazilian outfit, but there is still a way to go before a final deal is reached.

Alberto would reportedly be open to a move to East London with a week to go before the transfer window closes, as the Hammers look to accelerate their pursuit of the striker.

Interesting option

Alberto provides an interesting option for the Hammers. He is a different sort of target than others they have been linked to, which largely consist of homegrown talent with Premier League experience, or big-name players from European clubs such as Mohammed Kudus.

The Brazilian striker has been plying his trade in South America, where he has scored four goals and provided two assists from 19 league games so far this season after scoring eight goals in 20 games last year.

West Ham United

The fact that the Hammers’ technical director has flown to Brazil for talks shows that the club rate him highly and that they are keen to get a deal done as soon as possible to avoid a late scramble in the transfer window.

West Ham have needed a striker since Gianluca Scamacca left the club earlier this summer, and are prioritising a move for the 22-year-old while also assessing other options in the market in case the deal falls through.

This is one to watch late on in the window, Steidten usually gets what he wants.

In other West Ham news, the club are looking to double the wages of a star player.
