West Ham get resounding Haji Wright answer after £200m development at Coventry City

Haji Wright has been linked with a move to West Ham.

Nuno Espirito Santo is at risk of the sack, and West Ham are at serious risk of relegation, thus making the business they do in January arguably as important as it has ever been before.

After Leeds’ victory against Crystal Palace, the Hammers are now five points adrift from safety in the Premier League, and in desperate need of reinforcements.

Niclas Fullkrug is heading out to AC Milan, leaving the Irons in need of a striker, and after the latest update from Coventry, it’s a fair assumption to make that Wright won’t be the one.

Coventry City want Premier League-record fee for Wright

Wright has been outsnading for both club and country over the years, and he has continued that form for Coventry this season.

The USMNT international striker has scored nine goals in 20 appearances under Frank Lampard, with two assists to his name.

West Ham wanted to sign Wright to rectify their attacking concerns, but after the latest report from The Telegraph, it’s one that can be crossed off.

That’s because it’s claimed that Coventry have quoted West Ham £200million if they are to sign him in the January transfer window.

Unsurprisingly, that surpasses any transfer fee in Premier League history for a player whose market value is likely 10 per cent of that.

West Ham also dealt Franculino blow

Franculino Dju was linked with a move to the London Stadium, having impressed for FC Midtjylland over the last few months.

The 21-year-old striker has 21 goals and three assists in 30 appearances this season, including four in the Europa League.

However, Franculino suffered an injury at the start of December, which is likely to rule him out until March.

By then, West Ham could genuinely be relegated if their current form continues, showcasing how crucial it will be that they sign a goalscorer in January.

It’s as big a blow for the Hammers as it is for Franculino, who would likely have had his sights set on a move to the Premier League.
