West Ham frontrunners to sign Jesse Lingard, confident of striking deal
West Ham are increasingly confident they will sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United month, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
Speaking in a video posted on the Oddschecker Twitter page, Jones claims the Irons are the favourites to land the 28-year-old England international.
When asked if the east London side were likely to make a final push to sign last season’s loan star before the transfer window shuts, Jones said: “Definitely, yeah.

“I’m told that West Ham have had positive sounds from their point of view that he’s going to become available for transfer at the end of the month, and in that case, I think they become the most likely landing spot for him.
“I think the fact they’ve kept hold of Declan Rice is very important and Lingard will be buoyed by that and the squad is there from last season.
“He loved being the star man in that team and knows West Ham was built around him so he would be the guy that thrives and shines.
“There is renewed optimism at West Ham that this deal can be revived and that Lingard can end up playing at West Ham this season.”
Summer saga
This has been of the longest and most pain-staking pursuits of a player for some time.
West Ham fans have become accustomed to frustrating summers in the transfer market but this one may have just been the worst.
So far, the Irons have failed to make any new outfield summer signings, at least any that are likely to trouble the starting lineup any time soon.
Not only have we failed to bring in new faces, but we’ve also, to date, been unable to bring Lingard back after his nine-goal Premier League campaign last term.
There have been conflicting reports about why a deal for the attacker has failed to materialise; his price tag, his desire to re-establish himself back at Old Trafford and Manchester United’s injury issues.
However, it looks like there is renewed hope a deal will be struck, and we will be delighted to see it despite the length of time it has taken.
