West Ham ‘find Kudus replacement already’ with quick Guessand transfer on cards

West Ham have endured a slow start to the transfer window.

Despite being linked with plenty of exciting players, they have only completed the permanent signing of Jean-Clair Todibo, who was already on loan at the London Stadium last season.

However, the reason behind the lack of activity in East London may have emerged, with Nice star Evann Guessand now a possible arrival.

West Ham interested in Guessand but may have to sell first

The Hammers have rekindled their interest in Nice striker Guessand.

Graham Potter was considering the 23-year-old in January, but Nice were reluctant to sell halfway through the season.

However, the Daily Mail now reports that West Ham are planning to bid for him this summer, with the striker expected to be available for around £20million.

Tellingly, though, it’s suggested that West Ham may not be able to submit an offer until they sell a player first, with Wolves also sniffing around.

And this rival interest may force West Ham to be more urgent about selling Mohammed Kudus.

Kudus is wanted by other Premier League clubs, but the Hammers have been holding out for a suitable bid, with Saudi interest also on the table.

West Ham’s squad needs an overhaul

West Ham laboured to 43 points in the Premier League last season, and many fans will agree the squad needs an overhaul.

If Potter needs to sell Kudus to raise the funds to make that happen, so be it.

At first glance, it may seem smart to play hard to get with Kudus. That’s the best way to secure a high transfer fee for one of the Irons’ biggest assets.

But if this waiting game ruins the Hammers’ chance to sign other players, it’s not worth playing.

It’s well-known that it’s better to do your transfer business early in the window, as it gives you more time to gel your squad and allow your new players to become familiar with tactics.

The last thing West Ham need is to start making panic signings at the end of August because they wouldn’t let Kudus go.

Potter is known for being a smooth operator in the transfer market, and his handling of Kudus could be key to him enjoying a productive window this summer.
