West Ham face ‘difficult’ task to get Darwin Nunez deal done – report
West Ham face a difficult task negotiating a deal with Benfica to sign Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez before the transfer deadline tonight.
The Hammers made a late move for Nunez on Sunday night [Sky Sports] and are hoping to get it done before Monday’s deadline at 11 pm.
However, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor, the deal is increasingly hard to do because the player is currently on international duty with his country.
According to Taylor, it would take something ‘pretty spectacular’ to get a deal over the line because the player being on international duty makes any medical process complicated.
That’s if a deal can get agreed between the two clubs, with the Portuguese giants reportedly looking for around £60m for the 22-year-old.
Poor planning
While the signing of Nunez would undoubtedly be an excellent one, the poor planning of this window from the West Ham board.
The club have needed a striker all month long and while there have been some moves touted in the media, there isn’t a way that the club couldn’t have known that Nunez existed.

He would have been on the club’s radar prior to the window beginning and it likely would’ve been that he was lower down the priority list behind other targets.
If they have left it until the 11th hour to make a move then they deserve all the troubles that will come with that, including potentially missing out on their man.
The race is on to make Nunez a Hammer, fingers are crossed they don’t mess it up – show the ambition and cough up the cash to get this one the line, everyone is looking at GSB and Daniel Kretinsky.
