West Ham: Fabrizio Romano shares ‘strong’ new Lucas Paqueta to Manchester City transfer update

Manchester City remain interested in signing West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta, but discussions haven’t begun between clubs, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Reporting via his Daily Briefing column (9 April) the the transfer specialist confirmed that the Brazilian remains a main name on the Premier League champions’ transfer list after a potential deal collapsed last summer.

Paqueta is keen to make the switch to the Etihad this summer, but with multiple factors remaining undecided at this point in time, no contact has been made between clubs to progress the potential switch.

Writing in his Daily Briefing, he said: “Another Manchester City story making headlines is strong links again with West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta. He’s always been one of the main names on their list. We all know last summer the deal was close then it collapsed.

“Paqueta would obviously be more than keen on that move, City interest remains but it will depend on multiple factors. It’s not something being discussed club-to-club at this point.”

Will Lucas Paqeuta leave West Ham United for Manchester City this summer?

It seems as though talk around Paqueta’s future and Manchester City’s interest just won’t go away as the West Ham star continues to be linked with a summer move to the Etihad by a variety of outlets.

It seems as though suggestions that the Brazilian has already made contact and agreed terms with the champions are more than a bit premature, but it is clear that the Hammers midfielder would be keen on moving away.

Lucas Paqueta stayed put at West Ham

Whether or not a deal will be agreed upon remains unclear, but so much may hinge on what happens with Paqueta’s alleged gambling charges as a potential ban or punishment could quickly put the breaks on any potential move.

Hopefully, the Hammers and David Moyes will find a way to keep the 26-year-old at the London Stadium beyond the end of the season as he has been one of the Irons’ best players this term. Losing him would massively dent West Ham’s hopes of qualifying for Europe.
