West Ham eye Eric Ebimbe transfer with advanced talks on
West Ham have been in hot pursuit to secure the services of Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Eric Ebimbe, according to Sebastien Denis.
The Foot Mercato journalist reported on 24 January that the 24-year-old is desperate to seal a transfer away from the Bundesliga club.
However, AS Monaco are understood to be in advanced discussions with Frankfurt over signing the French midfielder on a loan deal before the transfer window closes.
Via X, Denis wrote: “AS Monaco and Eintracht Frankfurt are in advanced discussions for the loan of Eric Dina Ebimbe. There are still a few details to be finalized to complete the operation. The player absolutely wanted to leave Frankfurt to find playing time. West Ham, another L1 club and Galatasaray were also hot.”
West Ham must end their Eric Ebimbe transfer pursuit
The Hammers’ pursuit seems to be in vain as AS Monaco are now in a favourable position to secure his services.
With AS Monaco and Eintracht Frankfurt in advanced discussions for a loan deal involving the 24-year-old midfielder, it indicates that the transfer is nearing completion with only a few details left to finalise.
This development suggests that Ebimbe’s desire to leave Frankfurt for more playing time is likely to be fulfilled with Monaco, as the deal appears to be more advanced compared to the Irons’ interest.
It also means that it’s time for the Hammers to look elsewhere in order to bring in a new midfielder.
Pursuing alternatives ensures that West Ham do not miss out on reinforcing their squad if the primary target falls through.
Additionally, the competition from other clubs increases the risk of missing out entirely if focused solely on one player.
Thus, diversifying their search now allows the Hammers to adapt quickly, negotiate effectively and secure players who can still meet their tactical needs before the window shuts.
