West Ham eye another goalkeeper in January as offer is submitted ahead of transfer window

West Ham are looking to sign goalkeeper Christos Mandas in the January transfer window.

The Hammers have consistently had an issue between the sticks in recent years since Lukasz Fabianski’s role at the London Stadium deteriorated.

Alphonse Areola has proved to be too inconsistent at the London Stadium, while the summer signing of Mads Hermansen at West Ham has been a disaster.

Therefore, a new goalkeeper may be required yet again in January, with Nuno Espirito Santo eyeing Mandas.

West Ham battling Wolves for Christos Mandas

According to Lalaziosiamonoi.it on 21 November, Lazio are forced to sell in order to buy in the winter transfer window.

Therefore, one player on the transfer list is Mandas, who has already asked to leave the Italian club.

The report says Wolves have shown interest in the goalkeeper in recent months, while Getafe has also made an offer.

However, West Ham and Bournemouth have now joined the race, with both clubs making enquiries ahead of the window opening.

How good is Mandas?

While not a regular at Lazio, when Mandas has played, he has impressed.

According to Fotmob on 21 November, the goalkeeper played nine Serie A matches last season and kept four clean sheets.

The goalkeeper’s save percentage was particularly high at 74.1 per cent, while he made zero errors that led to goals.

Goals conceded 0.78
Save percentage 74.1%
Clean sheets 0.44
Goals prevented 0.02
Errors leading to goals 0.00
Mandas had impressive stats last season

Therefore, the stats suggest that the signing of the goalkeeper would certainly improve the Hammers’ chances of keeping a clean sheet, something that has become a rarity.

Hopefully, West Ham are able to beat their competitors to Mandas’ signature in the upcoming transfer window.
