West Ham eye another Frank Lampard favourite as Haji Wright’s Coventry City teammate targeted
West Ham United are looking to bring in a new centre-forward in the January transfer window, with Coventry City seemingly being their preferred hunting ground.
Coventry striker Haji Wright has already been linked with West Ham of late, as Nuno Espirito Santo aims to strengthen his squad.
With Niclas Fullkrug expected to depart the London Stadium when the window reopens, the Hammers are in real need of striking reinforcements.
Callum Wilson has scored four goals this season, but his injury record makes for grim reading and the East London side don’t want to be caught without a senior number nine for the second half of the campaign.

West Ham also watch Coventry’s Ellis Simms
Former West Ham midfielder Frank Lampard is currently in charge of Coventry, and he has the Sky Blues top of the Championship after 21 games of the season.
Wright had a blistering start to the season for City, catching the eye of the recruitment team at the London Stadium.
However, according to ExWHUEmployee on X, West Ham have also been watching another Coventry centre forward, Ellis Simms.
Former Everton youngster Simms has seven goals and two assists in the Championship this term, helping Lampard’s side in their bid for promotion to the Premier League.
The 24-year-old doesn’t have the greatest scoring record in the second tier, but has now found the net 26 times across the last two and a half campaigns.
West Ham make Coventry striker decision
Despite keeping an eye on Simms, West Ham believe that Wright is the better option and have a strong interest in the American ahead of the January window.
Nuno reportedly wants to add a physical centre-forward to his ranks, one who is ready for the Premier League, and the Hammers view Wright as a potential option to fill that void.
The 27-year-old has scored eight Championship goals this season and has a far better overall record than Simms.
Last term, Wright found the back of the net 12 times in 29 appearances, after scoring 16 in 44 the campaign before.
If the Coventry man does end up making the move to the London Stadium, he will be required to hit the ground running immediately as West Ham look to avoid Premier League relegation.
