West Ham exit: Guido Rodriguez ready to quit in next 24 hours

Guido Rodriguez wants to leave West Ham United before the 3 February transfer deadline, according to InfoRealBetis.

The Spanish outlet reported via their website (1 February) that the Argentine has been “knocking on the doors” of Real Betis but the La Liga outfit is not considering bringing him back at the moment.

The report adds that while the 2022 World Cup winner would like to exit the London Stadium, it’s a “complicated” case as there is only a day and a half left until the 11 pm deadline on 3 February.

West Ham United cannot allow Guido Rodriguez to leave

While Rodriguez’s arrival at the London Stadium likely hasn’t worked out as well as either party would have wanted, it still feels like he’s needed in E20.

Edson Alvarez and Tomas Soucek are Graham Potter’s starting choices at the moment but there could come a time when one or both of them get injured and with only the likes of Lewis Orford who’d be able to fill in that defensive midfield role, it feels like the Hammers could leave themselves a bit light if they let Rodriguez go.

A move in the summer should be what Potter is looking to do rather than sanctioning a move now as there isn’t enough time for them to source a suitable replacement unless they already have something in the pipeline.

So, as much as the former Betis man would like to leave England before 3 February, it feels like it would be a mistake for West Ham to allow it to happen.
