West Ham duo Thomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen unlikely to sign new deals
West Ham duo Thomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen are unlikely to sign new contracts at the London Stadium right now, according to Sean Whetstone on Twitter.
The editor of the 6foot2 reported via his Twitter account, West Ham Football, that the duo are unlikely to extend their deals under the club’s current leadership structure.
This news comes following a report by Jacob Steinberg in The Guardian that there is an ongoing power struggle at West Ham, with manager David Moyes and technical director Tim Steidten disagreeing on this summer’s transfer targets.
West Ham need to get their house in order
Ongoing issues in the hierarchy at West Ham are leading to widespread issues on the pitch and among the playing staff, which is usually a signal of the beginning of the end as far as a managerial tenure goes.
A complicated summer which is yet to see the East London club sign a single player has been full of off-field drama, with ongoing disputes between Moyes and Steidten largely surrounding transfer activity. Moyes wants to target players with Premier League experience, while the German prefers younger, more exciting options.
Whether the issues looming over Bowen and Soucek are due to the inner workings of the club, with the uncertainty around the squad, or more to do with Moyes’ management is currently unknown, although the former seems more likely.

West Ham, of course, won the Europa Conference League under Moyes last season, in a brilliant success during a rocky period. That win may have papered over the cracks, with the club involved in a relegation battle throughout the season.
The Hammers are now approaching the new season with a weaker squad following Rice’s departure, with no current incoming players, and conflict behind the scenes, which does not bode well.
Bowen is one of the main stars in this squad, as this double contract blow will no doubt hit hard.
In other West Ham news, the deal for a new midfielder could still be on as Moyes and the player are keen.
