West Ham discuss signing Tammy Abraham as £20m Roma exit news emerges

West Ham have discussed signing Roma forward Tammy Abraham, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported online (14 June) that the ex-Chelsea striker could be available for £20million this summer.

Roma are keen to get Abraham off their wage bill after an injury-hit 2023/24 campaign. Aston Villa, Tottenham and Everton have also discussed signing the 26-year-old.

The Hammers view Abraham as a realistic replacement for Michail Antonio, who could be set to quit the London Stadium before next season.

Would Tammy Abraham offer as an upgrade on Michail Antonio at West Ham?

It could be argued that West Ham have been the most active club in the Premier League regarding transfers thus far.

Although the transfer window has only just opened as of Friday 14 June, the club’s first signing of the summer has already been announced following Luis Guilherme’s arrival at the London Stadium on Thursday (13 June).

While not every transfer pursuit has worked out for the club, it is clear to see that the intent is there and it looks as if Julen Lopetegui is set to be backed this summer.

A new number nine should be high on the list of priorities, and Abraham could prove to be a good replacement for Antonio.

First and foremost, Abraham is eight years younger than Antonio, which means he could be a long-term replacement at the London Stadium.

The Englishman has previous Premier League experience and has performed well in Italy, and for £20million, he might be worth the gamble.
