West Ham: Dharmesh Sheth shares reply to ‘incomprehensible’ Said Benrahma claim

West Ham are disappointed by the claims made by Lyon against the club surrounding the Said Benrahma transfer, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist tweeted on Friday (2 February) that the Hammers believe the French side’s claim that their behaviour was “incomprehensible” was “totally unfounded” after the Algerian international’s move was initially held up following an issue with the paperwork.

But the 28-year-old winger has now joined the Ligue 1 club on an initial loan deal, which includes an obligation-to-buy clause that will take the deal to about £12.8million.

West Ham in a messy transfer situation over Said Benrahma

This situation turned into a complete and utter mess after it appeared as though Benrahma’s switch to Lyon had fallen through in the final hours of the transfer window.

The French club were quick to lay the blame at West Ham’s door, but clearly it wasn’t entirely their fault after FIFA has approved the deal.

It wouldn’t have been an ideal situation if the Algerian didn’t make the switch after David Moyes appeared to be keen to move him on during the window.

The winger has been a part of some incredible moments for the club over the past few years, but his performances have dropped off this season due to his lack of minutes.

With Pablo Fornals also completing his move to Real Betis, it is slightly concerning that we may be a bit short in the attacking department heading into the next few months.
