West Ham, Newcastle and Rangers are also interested in signing Cavalier FC defender Richard King, according to Rangers News.

The news outlet reported on 9 January that the Jamaican outfit are looking for a fee of around £1million to part ways with the 23-year-old centre-back.

It's understood that Aston Villa and Brighton are also keeping tabs on the Jamaica international. [HITC, 24 September]

West Ham do not need another centre-back

The Hammers signed Max Kilman and Jean Clair-Todibo in the summer and both are quality defenders even though they haven't shown it this season.

Julen Lopetegui failed to establish a suitable system to get the best out of the players he had at his disposal.

With Graham Potter, there is hope that the Hammers players improve and the club can reach their targets for the season.

If he does what he did at Brighton, there's a very good chance of the club finishing in the top half of this season.

Then from next season, the chances of the club competing for European places would undoubtedly increase.

The owners have been spending decently in the transfer window and Potter is the right kind of manager to back.
