West Ham deal for Manchester City winger Carlos Borges ‘as good as done’ – Sky Sports

West Ham are close to announcing the signing of Carlos Borges, according to Sky Sports News.

The sports broadcaster reported online (27 July) that a deal between West Ham and Manchester City for the 19-year-old forward is “as good as done.”

“A formal announcement on the arrival of the Portugal U19 international is expected soon,” was reported on Sky Sports’ transfer centre.

It is set to be the Hammers’ first summer signing and comes after Fabrizio Romano reported a deal was close between the two clubs via Twitter last Thursday (20 July).

Finally

West Ham supporters will just be excited that they finally have an arrival to talk about. It has been a frustrating summer so far for fans of the East London club as they had to say goodbye to their captain Declan Rice and haven’t made any incomings as of yet.

But it seems that the wait is almost over and it is a signing that will certainly have been worth waiting for. Many might not have heard of Borges before this transfer story broke but he could certainly be a frightening addition for David Moyes.

He is one of the most talented young players in the league and although he is yet to make his debut for City’s senior side, he has been tearing it up in Premier League Two.

Borges has scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 35 games for the Under-21s and if he can successfully make the step up, Moyes might have a steal on his hands.

In other West Ham news, a target for the club has admitted his desire to play in the Premier League.
