West Ham could target Christian Eriksen in January – report
West Ham may make a move for former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen during the January transfer window, according to Eurosport.
Despite only joining Inter Milan at the start of 2020, Eriksen has already fallen out of favour at the San Siro.
Eurosport sources believe West Ham will look into signing Eriksen while also claiming that the Danish international will be allowed to move in January.
The 28-year-old has found that grass isn’t always greener after forcing a move away from Tottenham in early 2020 but there is no doubting Eriksen’s ability and he would be an excellent signing for the Hammers.
Eriksen has only started three Serie A games this season and has failed to play a full 90 minutes in any competition for I Nerazzurri this term.
He registered four goals and three assists in 26 games for Inter in the latter half of last season which isn’t a stellar return but he wasn’t a regular starter for Antonio Conte last year either.
Eriksen’s Premier League stats are more impressive with the Dane registering 51 goals and 62 assists in 226 league outings for Spurs.
There are several problems with this transfer though as Eriksen will probably command a decent fee and his wages would rank him among the top earners at the London Stadium.
Considering that West Ham were only able to sign Said Benrahma from Brentford on an initial loan deal, it is doubtful that David Gold and David Sullivan will sanction an expensive move for the 28-year-old.
In other West Ham news, the stats show that Declan Rice turned in a stellar performance against Manchester United at the weekend.
