West Ham could face dramatic transfer twist in Nayef Aguerd chase
West Ham could face problems in signing centre-back Nayef Aguerd from Rennes after a sudden dramatic turn of events, according to Claret and Hugh.
The report says that the Hammers’ hope of signing the centre-back has hit a problem. He was in London on Wednesday (15 June) to complete his medical, but Newcastle may have made a late move to make the matter complicated.
A reliable source told Claret and Hugh that Newcastle could look to hijack the deal. The move is now in danger.

Must see off the challenge
It will be a massive blow for the Hammers and David Moyes if they miss out on the player after coming so close to signing him.
Evening Standard on 15 June have reported that the player is set for medical following the completion of his international duty with Morocco.
It was expected that the deal would be confirmed soon.
The 26-year-old Rennes defender would have been the club’s “marquee” signing, with the transfer fee of around £30 million being reported [Claret and Hugh, 14 June].

Probably that’s why they say anything can happen in a transfer window. Several reports suggested that he would become the first major signing for the Hammers as early as this week, but as it stands, they have obstacles to overcome.
Newcastle have the financial power to not only tempt Rennes with a better offer but lure the defender with a better wage package.
Having said that, it still looks like he will sign for the Hammers – the club must do everything to see off the challenge.
In other West Ham news, an £8million asking price has been set out for the club to add a second signing hot on the heels of the imminent first.
