West Ham could announce signing of Adler Nascimento soon

West Ham are close to announcing the signing of Peterborough’s Portuguese talent Adler Nascimento, according to ExWHUemployee.

The Irons insider first reported the club’s interest in the 16-year-old on the West Ham Way podcast earlier this week [22/06/21].

“He’s likely to be on trial ahead of signing permanently,” he said.

“He scored the winning goal to clinch the title for Peterborough’s academy side and apparently he’s very highly recommended, according to a couple of people I’ve spoken to on him today.”

ExWHUemployee has now delivered an update on his personal Twitter profile, after being asked whether Nascimento would be announced soon.

“Should be if trial etc goes to plan,” he replied.

Starting to heat up

Nascimento is only a young player that is highly unlikely to be thrust into the first-team squad, but the Irons are starting to put their transfer plans in place.

It was reported earlier this week by All Nigeria Soccer that the club were set to announce the signing of recently-released Celtic youngster Armstrong Okoflex, due to join on a two-year deal.

Evidently, the Irons are eyeing reinforcements to their youth ranks after troubling seasons for both the Under-18s and the Under-23s.

The former came 10th in their 13-team Under-18 Premier League, while the Under-23s were even closer to the bottom of the Premier League 2, ending the campaign with only Leicester City and Southampton below them.

Nascimento comes highly-rated, with Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony detailing on the Hard Truth Podcast earlier this year that “every club in the Premier League” wanted to sign the teenage star.

We’re all (patiently) waiting for David Moyes to sign some first-team stars that will hopefully inspire us to new heights domestically and in Europe, but it’s also heartening to see the club bolster the youth ranks and target drastic improvement there.

That’s important to build a successful pathway to the senior squad, especially as we have a long, proud tradition of bringing players through the age groups and into the first team.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have lodged an ‘Important’ bid for this 25-year-old La Liga star.
