West Ham confirm Paco Jemez departure as Nuno welcomes replacement already
West Ham United have confirmed Paco Jemez has left the London Stadium.
The Hammers are preparing for a promotion push to get back to the Premier League after suffering relegation last campaign.
Nuno Espirito Santo will remain in charge of the Irons, but he is hoping to welcome some new faces to the London Stadium.
Mateus Fernandes has already left E20, as Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville could soon follow, but the West Ham boss has also been keen for clarity on his coaching setup for the season.
After rumours suggested that Jemez could stay, fans may be disappointed to learn that this is not the case anymore.
However, Nuno and West Ham have been quick to clean their wounds, as the Hammers' coaching set-up for the season ahead has been confirmed.
West Ham welcome Paco Jemez's replacement
In an official statement by West Ham, published on their club website on Monday, the Hammers announced the departure of Jemez.
The Irons wish the assistant coach the best in whatever his next chapter may be, but have welcomed his replacement.
Rui Pedro Silva will now serve as Nuno's right-hand man for the 2026/27 Championship season.
The former Wolves figure will now join assistant coaches Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville, goalkeeping coaches Rui Barbosa and Billy Lepine, and lead fitness coach Jordan Smith to complete Nuno’s setup.
The West Ham boss knows Silva well from their time together at Wolves, where they created arguably one of the best teams that the Championship has ever seen.
Though some will be sad about Jemez leaving, there are reasons as to why Nuno may favour this change.
Rui Pedro Silva completes Nuno; here's why
Nuno was left stranded by West Ham when he first joined, as the club failed to get Jemez in quickly enough.
When the assistant coach did join, the Hammers had an improvement in performances and results, but he wasn't enough to help the club avoid relegation.
When looking at Silva's relationship with Nuno, it's clear to see that the Portuguese coach completes the West Ham boss.
The pair worked together at Malaga and Panathinaikos before Silva acted as his assistant when at Rio Ave, Valencia, Porto, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest.
Nuno and Silva have won silverware together, finished in the top half of the Premier League, and even led Nottingham Forest to qualify for Europe over a year ago.
West Ham could be about to see the best version of Nuno's football yet.
