West Ham breakthrough emerges in Evann Guessand transfer talks

West Ham are in talks with the entourage of Nice striker Evann Guessand over a potential transfer, according to L’Equipe.

The news outlet reported on 25 January that the French side are looking to sell the 23-year-old for around £25million in the summer.

This comes despite the Hammers being keen on signing Ajax striker Brian Brobbey with him already being seen in London. [Telegraaf, 24 January]

West Ham may not sign Evann Guessand if they sign Brian Brobbey

Guessand represents an attractive prospect for the Hammers due to his proven track record at Nice, where he has demonstrated both goal-scoring prowess and versatility across the front line.

At 23, he’s young enough to develop further, offering long-term value and the potential to adapt to the Premier League’s demands.

His physical attributes, including height and speed, make him a suitable candidate for the competitive English football environment.

However, if the Ibrons secure the signing of Brobbey in the coming days, their interest in Guessand might wane.

The Ajax striker, already seen in London, indicates a strong intent from the club to finalise that deal before the transfer window closes.

Both players share similar attributes as young, dynamic forwards, but Brobbey’s immediate availability and the club’s apparent preference might lead the Hammers to now secure his services.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have made contact to sign an international striker who’s scored 15 goals in 18 games this season.
