West Ham braced for new Lucas Paqueta bid after latest developments in London
West Ham United could be even closer to losing Lucas Paqueta within the next 24 hours.
Paqueta wants to leave West Ham this month and move back to Brazil after three and a half years at the London Stadium.
The Brazilian didn’t feature in West Ham’s 2-1 win over Tottenham on Saturday afternoon, left out of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad entirely.
While the official line is that the midfielder is suffering from a back injury, it may hint that his departure is closing in.
Flamengo to make second bid for Lucas Paqueta
If Paqueta does leave West Ham this month, he is expected to return to Flamengo, where he came through as a youngster.
The midfielder joined the Brazilian side at the age of 10, going on to make 67 league appearances for the senior side before signing for AC Milan in 2019.
According to Mauro Cezar, Flamengo made an initial £30million offer for Paqueta last Thursday, but are now set to make a new move.
Flamengo are expected to lodge a second bid for the West Ham midfielder on 19 January, after he didn’t feature in the win over Tottenham.
The Brazilian outfit were reportedly waiting to see if Paqueta was still included in the matchday squad before they made another approach.
West Ham eye signing of their own
Even though Paqueta looks to be on his way out of the London Stadium, there is some good news for Hammers fans.
West Ham are set to sign Keiber Lamadrid from Venezuelan outfit Deportivo La Guaira, with the midfielder expected to come in on an initial loan deal.
The East London side retain the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season for just over £1m.
Lamadrid is currently in Paris, undergoing his medical with West Ham and finalising contract details.
He is reportedly waiting for his visa to come through so that he can finalise his switch to the London Stadium in the coming days.
