West Ham and Fiorentina are £2.5m apart in Nikola Milenkovic valuation

West Ham and Fiorentina are £2.5million apart in their valuation of 23-year Serbia international Nikola Milenkovic, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Sky Sport journalist, writing on GianlucaDiMarzio.com, claims the Italian outfit are “not willing to give discounts”, and that West Ham are starting to consider alternatives as a result, with exit-bound Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma an option if the Milenkovic door does not unlock.

However, negotiations are not completely over, and there is still a chance a deal could be done, but the parties are still a fair way off an agreement.

Just pay it

We’ve been fleeced plenty of times by clubs all over Europe when buying talent in the past, and it’s acceptable for the owners and board figures to tread a little more carefully now to avoid getting their fingers burned.

But if David Moyes really has identified Milenkovic as the central defender he wants at West Ham, then what’s £2.5million in this mad world of modern football?

West Ham

It might be that he would ask for lower wages than, say, 26-year-old Zouma, who is currently at the European champions and a club that pay a pretty penny for their first-team players.

Either way, the start of the Premier League season is next week, and we are still yet to make an outfield signing.

Angelo Ogbonna is not certain to be fit and firing for the opener against Newcastle United, and that leaves just Craig Dawson and Issa Diop in central defence.

Just get some signings in, GSB.
