West Ham and Brighton make £8m+ offers for Spezia full-back Emil Holm
West Ham and Brighton have each made £8.1million bids for Spezia right-back Emil Holm, who is also attracting interest from Atalanta and Juventus, according to TuttoMercato.
The Italian news outlet reported on 26 July that Serie B side Spezia have received bids for Holm from the two English clubs, although both have been rejected as the club are looking for £12.8million to sell the right-back.
West Ham’s interest in Holm was reported on 15 July, and that interest looks to have since developed with a formal bid being made. It was reported at the time that Spezia are resigned to losing the 23-year-old this summer, but now seems they will look to receive their valuation.

An interesting option
Holm is very highly rated in Italy, as displayed by the interest from giants Juventus and Atalanta, and at a price of just over £12million, he would be a very interesting option for West Ham’s right-hand side of defence.
It was reported that the East London club would be targeting younger full-backs this month, and Holm certainly fits that mould. At 23 years old, Holm made 20 Serie A appearances last season and impressed despite his club’s low league finish as Spezia suffered relegation.
With his club having been relegated, they lose some footing in their stance when it comes to keeping the player this year, particularly when three of the four interested clubs, including West Ham, will be competing in Europe this season.

The interest in Holm from Brighton should be noted, with the South Coast club famous for their impressive recruitment, with a number of players shining despite being unheard of before a move to the Premier League side.
In other West Ham news, their pursuit of a midfield target may be more difficult after Liverpool transfer news.
