West Ham and Ajax want to find an agreement as soon as possible in £35m Edson Alvarez deal – Sky Sports
West Ham and Ajax want to find an agreement soon for Edson Alvarez according to Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Writing on his official Twitter account, Plettenberg said the final fee for the 25-year-old Mexico midfielder could be around £35million.
Alvarez is expected to sign a contract at the London Stadium until 2028, with talks between the clubs said to have been “respectful” by Plettenberg.
The Hammers are yet to make a summer signing despite seeing captain Declan Rice depart for Arsenal in a £105million deal.
So close…
As transfer windows go, this one has thus far been pretty bleak for West Ham and their fanbase.
The loss of skipper Rice to Arsenal was always to be expected, just perhaps the length of time it took for an agreement to actually be ratified was not.
Despite that huge windfall from the Gunners, West Ham are yet to reimburse any of that money into much-needed incomings, much to the frustration of supporters and David Moyes.

Manager Moyes reportedly has a disconnect with new technical director Tim Steidten in terms of what sort of player to target, which possibly explains why moves for targets such as James Ward-Prowse and Denis Zakaria have yet to materialise.
At last, though, it looks as though a breakthrough is on the cards and it would represent a pretty decent start – albeit they will probably need someone in midfield a little more forward thinking to accompany Alvarez.
Get this one over the line, then get more faces in the building. And quickly.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have submitted a first bid for Scott McTominay.
