West Ham already aware if Axel Disasi permanent deal possible amid ‘significant’ Chelsea update
West Ham may find it difficult to sign turn Axel Disasi’s Chelsea loan into a permanent deal.
According to Hammers News, Chelsea view Disasi‘s time at London Stadium as a chance to get minutes, rather than it paving the way to a summer transfer switch.
Disasi, who reportedly rejected West Ham last summer, is said to be happy at Nuno Espirito Santo‘s team but there is no guarantee the centre-back will remain at the club for next term.
Firstly, West Ham may get relegated, which would automatically end the Hammers’ hopes of signing the 27-year-old. Secondly, Chelsea are paying a “significant portion of his wages”.
For now, the player and the club will be focusing on keeping West Ham in the Premier League. But this will just be a short-term dalliance between both parties.

Where does Axel Disasi fit in with West Ham’s wage structure?
According to Capology, West Ham have more than 10 players on wages in excess of £50,000 a week.
It is important to add that unlike in some American sports where players’ wages are easy to find and are accurate, the same cannot be said to the same degree of certainty in English football.
If the aforementioned report is to be believed, captain Jarrod Bowen is West Ham’s top earner – which makes sense as he is their best player and most consistent performer.
Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is said to be on big wages, despite his up and down form for the east London outfit.
West Ham signed defender Max Kilman from Wolves for £40million but he has proven to be an underwhelming signing to say the least.
The centre-back is also reportedly on big wages, as are former Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and West Ham fan favourite Tomas Soucek.
| West Ham’s reported top earners | Contract expiration |
| Jarrod Bowen – £150,000 a week | 2030 |
| Alphonse Areola – £120,000 a week | 2027 |
| Max Kilman – £100,000 a week | 2031 |
| Aaron Wan-Bissaka – £90,000 a week | 2031 |
| Tomas Soucek – £90,000 a week | 2027 |
According to various reports, Disasi is on around £80,000 a week at Chelsea, with his contract running until 2029 at Stamford Bridge.
On the face of it, West Ham should be able to afford his wages, particularly as the Blues are understood to be bearing the brunt of that salary at present.

However, if Disasi continues to impress, he will likely have a tempting list of options in the summer. It seems a Chelsea exit is inevitable but his next destination is uncertain.
From ‘Bomb Squad’ to West Ham linchpin
Disasi had a first half of the season to forget as he was jettisoned by former Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca to the club’s infamous “bomb squad”.
The defender trained away from the first-team squad and only made a handful of outings for Chelsea’s Under-21s to keep him fit.
When asked about being frozen out, he said: “In Chelsea the time was a little bit crazy but my background helped me to get through.
“I stayed sharp, I was working hard and always made sure that my head stayed in the right way. My family helped me a lot going through this. During this period I saw that my background helped me a lot.”
After joining West Ham for a loan fee of £1.7m, Disasi has made four appearances and already has added assuredness to their backline.
Clean sheets have come back into fashion at West Ham, under Disasi’s watch, and Nuno is singing his praises. Many feared he would be rusty but so far, he has been anything but.
Sterner tests lie ahead as West Ham try to beat the drop, with the Hammers currently two points behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest. But their chances of staying up have been bolstered with Disasi in the team.
