West Ham agree 100% Evan Ferguson wage deal with Brighton as package revealed

West Ham will cover 100 per cent of wages for Brighton in a loan deal for Evan Ferguson, according to Alex Crook.

The talkSPORT correspondent reported on 2 February that the Hammers will pay a loan fee and bonuses to land the Republic of Ireland international this winter.

The Irons have also agreed to cover all of the 20-year-old’s wages who is said to be one of the top earners at the Amex [The Irish Mirror, 14 November 2023].

West Ham agree wage structure for Evan Ferguson

There were always going to be complications in a deal for the young forward given the Seagulls’ initial reluctance to let him go.

It appears that the desire of Graham Potter to bring the ex-Bohemians striker in has paid off with a deal now looking likely with just one day remaining in the window.

This will represent a boost for the English head coach who has had limited options upfront since coming in at the London Stadium.

As a result, Ferguson will come in and will likely become the starting number nine for the Hammers despite his lack of game time in recent months.

The Irishman made his first appearance in six weeks for Brighton on Saturday (1 February), playing 17 minutes in a 7-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest.

Now fans will await an announcement in East London and hope that it comes before the 3 February transfer deadline.
