West Ham accept Roma loan offer for Gianluca Scamacca, £17.2m-£18m obligation to buy included

West Ham have accepted an offer from Roma for striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to Romagiallorossa.

The Italian news outlet reported online (25 July) that the East London side have accepted a loan offer of around £3million for the 24-year-old which includes an obligation to buy for between £17.2 and £18million if certain conditions are met.

One of these conditions includes the Serie A side qualifying for the Champions League as well as appearance and goal-related targets for the Italian international.

Scamacca is keen on the move and has already agreed personal terms with Jose Mourinho’s side, however, before completing any deal, Roma must finalise transfers for Gonzalo Villar and Bryan Reynolds.

Almost

It seems as if the transfer saga between Scamacca, West Ham and Roma might almost be finally over, although the deal is not quite yet complete.

If Roma are still waiting on outgoing transfers in order to bring in the striker then there is no guarantee the move will be finalised. While West Ham might have accepted the conditions of the offer, it seems as if Roma are in no position to officially make it.

West Ham

It is clear that the Premier League just isn’t the right fit for the forward who is ready to quit after one season, with life in Italy perhaps more suited to the player.

West Ham have been cursed with number nines in recent years with very few joining the club and managing to stick around and make an impact. It is best for all parties involved if a permanent solution can be resolved for Scamacca and the Hammers can identify and sign a new striker.

No club wants a player who doesn’t want to be there and David Moyes’ men will most likely be routing for Roma next season so the obligation to purchase is activated.

In other West Ham news, the club might be close to completing their first signing of the summer.
