Trevor Sinclair wants Tammy Abraham and Michail Antonio partnership at West Ham

Trevor Sinclair has urged West Ham to help Michail Antonio out and sign 23-year-old Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham this summer.

The ex-Irons hero, who starred for England at the 2002 World Cup, was speaking on talkSPORT [08:39, 26/07/21] when he was asked about the future of the Blue striker.

“I’d love to see him at West Ham, I think he’d fit in really well,” Sinclair said.

“Antonio needs that rest, he can’t play week in, week out with his age and what he brings to the table.

“I think if he puts it all out there one week and then Tammy comes and plays the next week, I think that could be a really formidable partnership there.”

Ideal duo

A partnership of Abraham and Antonio would be enough to strike fear into any defence in Europe.

Both have their individual qualities, with Antonio famed for his pace, power and ability to run the channels, while Abraham’s clever movement and poaching prowess has earned him considerable praise at an early age.

Sinclair isn’t necessarily suggesting that they would be in the team together, certainly not all the time, but believes they could be rotated on a regular basis to suit the team’s needs.

That appears an ideal scenario given the extra games added to the Irons schedule this year due to the club’s Europa League commitments.

But with Antonio’s versatility and experience of playing on the wing for much of his career, we can also see him lining up alongside Abraham on some occasions.

Abraham looks a certainty to leave Chelsea this summer, so now the spotlight is on a club to swoop in and stump up the cash to land him from the 2021 Champions League winners.

Hopefully, that will be West Ham.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have reportedly tabled a bid for this 23-year-old midfielder who scored five Europa League goals last season.
