Tottenham make approach to hijack West Ham transfer – Fabrizio Romano
West Ham United could be hijacked by Tottenham Hotspur in their efforts to sign Brian Brobbey, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Romano posted on X (24 January) to reveal the latest twist in the Irons’ efforts to sign the Ajax striker, who has been lined up as a priority loan target.
It is now understood their London rivals could be in for Brobbey themselves, in what would be a massive setback for Graham Potter.
Romano shared: “Understand Tottenham have also asked for Brian Brobbey loan deal conditions.
“He’s one of the options being considered while West Ham are already in direct talks with Ajax for loan and obligation.
“West Ham remain in contact, Spurs also made an enquiry to be informed.”
Tottenham aiming to outmuscle West Ham for Brobbey
The Hammers are desperate to bring in attacking reinforcements during the final 10 days of the transfer window, and the last thing they could do with is a Premier League rival bouncing in at the 11th hour.
That appears to be what they are now dealing with at the London Stadium, with Brobbey potentially tempted by the move to Spurs despite their poor league form this season.
The two clubs are keen on a loan deal although Ajax would clearly prefer either a straight sale or a loan with an obligation to buy in the summer.
Potter’s men are in the market for numerous players including a striker, a midfielder and a defender – though the former of those is undoubtedly the priority.
The East Londoners head to take on Aston Villa this weekend (26 January) with just one fit senior striker in Danny Ings.
