West Ham United offer rejected by Tosin Adarabioyo to sign for Chelsea as reason emerges
Tosin Adarabioyo rejected an offer to join West Ham because of a lack of European football next season, according to The Athletic.
A report on the outlet’s website on 4 June says that the Fulham defender turned down the Hammers due to their failure to qualify for any continental competition and is instead set to sign for Chelsea on a free transfer.
David Moyes’ side finished ninth in the Premier League last term and went out of the Europa League at the quarter-final stage to eventual finalists Bayer Leverkusen, while Mauricio Pochettino finished sixth and went into the Europa Conference League after Manchester United’s FA Cup win.
The Irons are looking to overhaul their defence after conceding more top flight goals than any club except the relegated sides, but have also seen a move for Brazilian centre-back Patricio Bruno break down over contract talks.
Fulham defender turns down West Ham offer
West Ham were in touching distance of European qualification for much of the season despite the inconsistent form in Moyes’ final campaign.
But just three league victories from the start of March led to a disappointing mid-table finish and the knock-on effect is clear with the attempt to land Adarabioyo.
The Hammers aren’t alone in that as Newcastle were also snubbed after failing to qualify for Europe despite making the English defender a top target and offering to triple his wages [talkSPORT, 4 June].
As with the move for Bruno reaching a dead end after Saudi Pro League interest caused difficulties in reaching an agreement on personal terms the club will need to move onto alternative targets.

There has clearly been no shortage of activity from the London Stadium as the club look to revamp the squad for the incoming Julen Lopetegui, but not everything is going to plan.
Tim Steidten will want to address that as soon as possible in order to give the new manager the best chance to get his team ready for the new season, and attempt to get back into Europe.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers fear an 11th-hour hijack on a dramatic high-profile deal.
