Tomas Soucek has confirmed that he will stay and fight for West Ham United in the Championship next season.

The midfielder has been linked with a London Stadium exit ever since the Hammers had their relegation from the Premier League confirmed.

The 31-year-old is a fan favourite in E20, and was one of the heroes of the club's Europa Conference League win in 2023.

Soucek has been away with Czech Republic at this year's World Cup, as his nation crashed out of the competition, failing to reach the knockout stages.

There has been much speculation over whether he would stay or not, as his qualities may be too good for the Championship.

It's only now that he's been able to process everything, and in an update on Instagram, seems to have confirmed that he will be staying at the London Stadium.

Unfortunately, Soucek's season ended with injury after he was stretcher-carried off the field in Czech Republic's 3-0 loss to Mexico.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Soucek confirmed that he will stay with West Ham.

His words show that he will be staying with the Hammers, in what is a huge boost for Nuno Espirito Santo's side ahead of the new season.

Soucek wrote: "This isn’t how I imagined ending the season. Not with West Ham. Not with the Czech Republic. And certainly not with an injury.

"The good thing about football is that there’s always another challenge waiting.

"Since the season ended, I’ve only had one thing on my mind. West Ham United. This club means so much to me and I’m ready to do everything I can in helping get it back to where it belongs; to the English Premier League."

It was an emotional statement from the 6,3" midfielder, who may need some time to recover again before pre-season starts.

West Ham's midfield will have an obvious boost with Soucek staying, but it could change their plans heading into the season after weeks of uncertainty.

What Soucek staying could mean for West Ham next season

Soucek had been the centre of uncertainty among other players like Jarrod Bowen and Mateus Fernandes heading into the summer.

Possible replacements appeared to be lined up in the form of Sheffield united' Sydie Peck and Celtic's Arne Engels.

However, neither of them two may be wanted anymore in E20 with Soucek set to stay.

Not only does it change the Hammers' transfer plans, but may alter their fortunes for next season.

Soucek is a big-moment player, and that's exactly what Nuno needs in a season where he will be hoping for promotion at the first time of asking.

The big midfielder has already made 271 appearances for the Irons, with 44 goals to his name, and there could be plenty more numbers to add to those tallies yet.
