Todibo and Steidten jet into UK together, West Ham medical booked – ‘Here we go’
West Ham United have booked a medical for Jean-Clair Todibo with his transfer to East London given a “here we go” by Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer specialist reported via X on Friday (9 August) that the Irons have completed their hijack of the defender’s move to Juventus and he is now jetting to London alongside Irons chief Tim Steidten.
Todibo will undergo a medical with the Hammers today before completing his initial loan switch to the London Stadium, which will include an obligation to make the deal permanent for a reported £34million next summer.
Will Jean-Clair Todibo exit Nice amid West Ham United transfer speculation?
Only hours after news of the Hammers’ hijack emerged, Steidten and his recruitment team at the London Stadium have somehow managed to pull off this transfer and get Todibo to the London Stadium instead of Turin.
While links between the Nice defender and East London have been circulating throughout the transfer window, most had presumed the deal was dead given the lack of genuine updates since Juventus opened talks.
But somehow, the Hammers have got their man and unless something unexpected crops up during Todibo’s medical, he will be the latest player to join Julen Lopetegui’s ranks ahead of the new Premier League season.
No one can suggest that the former Real Madrid manager hasn’t been backed by the West Ham board this summer as almost every target he and Steidten have identified has been secured, often for big money fees.
The pressure will be on Lopetegui to hit the ground running with this squad. There is absolutely no reason the Irons shouldn’t be pushing for Europe once again.
Hopefully, the former Wolves boss will match and potentially even exceed those expectations in his first campaign in charge of the Hammers.
