‘Tim Steidten influence lives on’ as West Ham ready to strike for Mehdi Taremi
Mehdi Taremi has emerged as a target for West Ham this summer.
In just under a month, West Ham will be back in Premier League action, having made very little use of the summer transfer window so far.
The Irons have been in need of reinforcements ever since coming close to relegation last time out, with a new striker high up on their list of priorities.
Taremi, 33, has emerged as a potential target for the Hammers, and it will lead some fans to think that Tim Steidten is still in charge.

West Ham would be making a mistake with Taremi transfer
Signing ageing strikers with little to no sell-on value has been the theme for West Ham, and mainly due to the recruitment of Steidten throughout his time at the London Stadium.
When he left, the hope was that it would change, but as per a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport (23 July, pg 4), it seems it hasn’t.
West Ham are said to be admirers of Taremi, who has struggled at Inter ever since making the move from Porto last summer.
Taremi | Games | Goals | Assists |
Porto | 182 | 91 | 56 |
Inter | 43 | 3 | 9 |
The Iranian forward has scored just three goals since arriving in Italy, despite having played 43 times for the Serie A giants.
Porto, his most recent club, also holds an interest, but his reported £50,000 per week wage is said to be a barrier in that potential deal.

Graham Potter will be frustrated
Graham Potter will not have entered the job at the London Stadium without promises of backing, and he is yet to receive that.
The Irons have sat with their hands tied behind their back so far in the summer window, and that needs to change.
If not, West Ham could spend the next campaign staring down the barrel of a possible relegation.
