Tiago Pinto to jet into London to revive dying Roma talks for West Ham United star Gianluca Scamacca
Roma general manager Tiago Pinto is set to fly to London to attempt to revive the slowing transfer negotiations with West Ham for their under-performing forward Gianluca Scamacca, according to Il Romanista.
The outlet reports (7 July) that Scamacca is waiting for the Hammers and Roma to reach a total agreement on a deal, but there has been minimal progress in recent weeks. The former Sassuolo man is on the top of Pinto’s list of striker options, with manager Jose Mourinho looking to build his side around him.
West Ham are reportedly holding out until Roma agree to an obligation to buy for Scamacca as they look to recoup some of the £35.5million [Sky Sports] they paid for the Italian.

Statement of intent
Scamacca is a top target for Roma.
Their clear eagerness to seal his signature could boost their chances of signing him massively. Reports that Mourinho wants to bring Scamacca into the club as soon as possible and build his team around him must be exciting for the Italian to hear after his hugely disappointing time at West Ham so far.
Roma were reportedly ready to listen to offers for their current number nine Tammy Abraham [Telegraph] before he suffered a serious knee injury, and Scamacca may find himself as the club’s first-choice striker in the league where he made his name.

They may have to act quickly, however, as another Serie A giant is reportedly in the market for Scamacca. AC Milan have explored a deal to seal Scamacca, which reportedly could include a swap deal for Divock Origi [Gazetta dello Sport].
Scamacca would look to reignite his career back in Italy and hit the heights of his final Serie A season with Sassuolo where he scored 16 goals and helped his side to an 11th-place finish.
However, it looks likely that Scamacca will return to Italy this summer. If Roma continue to pursue their interest in this fashion, then they could find themselves in a pole position to get their man.
