Thilo Kehrer ready to quit West Ham United as agents work on January transfer exit – Sky Sports journalist
Thilo Kehrer is ready to quit West Ham in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Germany defender, 27, has found himself out of the team this season and has yet to start a game in the Premier League.
As such, Plettenberg wrote on his X account (11 December) that his agents have been sounding out the market to see about an exit from the London Stadium in the next window.
Plettenberg noted that Eintracht Frankfurt are “very interested” but that they are also tracking other options.
Kehrer, who moved to West Ham from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in August 2022, is under contract at West Ham until June 2026.
Inevitable
This one really does not as a surprise to any Hammers supporter. Kehrer has been on the periphery of the team this season, making only three substitute appearances in the Premier League under David Moyes this season.
He has made a couple of starts in the League Cup and four in the Europa League, but Kehrer will be determined to play regular first team football in order to make Germany’s Euro 2024 squad on home soil next summer.
Kehrer is a versatile defender but the issue is Vladimir Coufal has made the right-back berth his own, while Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd are Moyes’ favoured two centre-backs this season, with Konstantinos Mavropanos available as back-up too.
It all points to one reality and that is Kehrer departing the London Stadium next month. The only question really is where, but it does seem most likely that a move to the Bundesliga will provide the best solution for all parties.
In other West Ham news, talkSPORT host Simon Jordan is flabbergasted by sack talk involving Moyes.
