Thiago Motta stance revealed as West Ham United lead Matias Soule transfer race
Juventus’ new manager Thiago Motta wants to keep Matias Soule at the club amid interest from West Ham this summer, according to CalcioMercato.
The Italian source reported [23 June] that multiple European clubs are interested in the Argentine, though the Hammers are said to be “above all” when it comes to signing the £29.6million-valued forward.
It is understood that Soule, who spent last season out on loan with Frosinone, could be in Motta’s plan ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, prompting the Juventus hierarchy to put the sale on hold.
West Ham United remain interested in Matias Soule as Thiago Motta update emerges
With 11 goals and three assists in 36 matches for Frosinone, it is easy to understand why there is so much hype around the 21-year-old forward, who is capable of playing on the wing or as a centre-forward.
Given his adaptability and fluidity in attack, Soule is likely to fit perfectly with the current profiles at the London Stadium, with Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta all very fluid in the final third.
While Julen Lopetegui will implement his own style of play, he will still want those three forwards to remain at the club once the transfer window is over, so the attack will likely remain similar.
Motta has already shown his pedigree as a manager in Serie A, taking Bologna to new heights, which could seal Soule’s future in Italy, much to the disappointment of the Irons.

Nearly £30million on a player who has only made 21 first-team appearances for the Old Lady could be seen as a risk, however, with other players with more experience available for much less.
It is clear that Lopetegui wants to add youth to the squad, with 18-year-old Luis Guilherme already joining from Palmeiras this summer, and Soule would be a decent addition.
