The staggering amount Guido Rodriguez has cost West Ham ahead of potential free transfer exit
Guido Rodriguez looks set to leave West Ham having spent just one year at the club.
Rodriguez joined the club from Real Betis and has been largely underwhelming in the heart of the West Ham midfield.
The Argentine has typified what West Ham have lacked in midfield, which is hard-working runners, and Stuart Pearce labelled Rodriguez ‘lazy‘ after West Ham’s 3-2 loss to Wolves in the EFL Cup.

According to Capology, Rodriguez earned £3.9million as part of his annual salary last season.
Having only made 26 appearances in all competitions up to this date, he has cost the Hammers a huge amount of money.
He has cost West Ham:
- £2,906.12 per minute played
- £150,000 per appearance
- £3,900,000 per goal contribution
With West Ham starting the season in the worst way possible, Rodriguez’s exit will pave the way for some exciting signings to come through the door.

Positive signs for West Ham fans amid transfer developments
With Rodriguez departing, West Ham have made progress on deals for multiple different midfielders.
Mateus Fernandes has joined West Ham in a £35m deal with Southampton, yet he isn’t expected to be the only incoming.
Whilst Fernandes brings plenty of flair and creativity to the side, West ham are in need of a more defensive profile in the squad, and Soungoutou Magassa is the most likely candidate to replace Rodriguez.
Magassa was set to join West Ham, although Eintracht Frankfurt have made a late attempt to hijack the transfer
The French midfielder is an imposing presence in the centre of the park, and would be a progressive signing as the Hammers look to move away from a trend that has seen them sign ageing players in recent years.
