The contract Joel Piroe will sign at West Ham as transfer clause details revealed
West Ham United have a multi-year agreement in place for Joel Piroe.
The Leeds United striker is widely reported to be on the verge of sealing his transfer to West Ham.
With Nuno Espirito Santo desperate to add to his forward line before the deadline, this is set to be a major deal for the Hammers.
Piroe finished the 2024-25 season as the Championship's golden boot winner with 19 goals, showing the quality he's ready to bring to the Irons.
Alongside the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Taty Castellanos, West Ham may have pieced together the best forward line England's second tier has ever seen.
And should everything go to plan in 2026-27, Piroe will be calling the London Stadium his permanent home.
How long will Joel Piroe's permanent West Ham contract be?
Piroe is claimed to have agreed personal terms with West Ham on Tuesday, with confirmation of his transfer now imminent.
The Suriname international hasn't quite been able to replicate his Championship form in the Premier League with Leeds.
However, he may yet get the chance to prove himself in England's top flight with West Ham.
Voetbal International claims on Tuesday that Piroe has now completed his medical, and has signed on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy.
It's also claimed that should West Ham win promotion in 2026-27, then Piroe's loan agreement will automatically convert to a permanent switch.
As a result, it's stated that his contract with the Hammers will then run until mid-2029.
So, what chance does Piroe have of ousting Castellanos from West Ham's starting XI this season?
How Nuno can fit Castellanos and Piroe in same starting XI
Should Castellanos stay with West Ham beyond the deadline, competition between him and Piroe will be fierce.
It remains to be seen what formation Nuno largely deploys in the Championship, having routinely altered his approach last season.
Either way, Piroe can find his way into the Hammers' team with Castellanos in it, as he has plenty of experience playing behind the striker at Leeds.
During his 2022-23 season with Swansea, where he scored 19 goals in 43 Championship games, he also played numerous games from attacking midfield and even out wide.
So, Piroe, once his match fitness is built and he's integrated into the squad, shouldn't have any issue carving out a key role for West Ham this term.
