Tammy Abraham could pack his bags as West Ham United ready new transfer

West Ham United are readying a move for Tammy Abraham, who could be set for an exit from Roma this summer, according to Corriere Dello Sport.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition [page 10, 12 June] that three other Premier League sides – Everton, Aston Villa and Leicester City – are also keen on the 26-year-old.

Roma are thought to value the striker, who has two years left on his contract, at between £17million-£21million and Abraham could be packing his bags soon.

Should West Ham United sign Tammy Abraham?

Abraham has hit a difficult patch in his career.

He looked like a player who had finally hit his stride at the top level after arriving at Roma, scoring 27 times in all competitions in his first season and firing the Giallorossi to the inaugural Europa Conference League title.

However, his production dropped off dramatically in his second season in Italy, mustering just a third of the tally he racked up in his first term before a cruciate ligament injury ruled him out for almost the entirety of the 2023/24 campaign – he managed just 318 minutes in all competitions as he was eased back into action – and Roma now appear content to let him leave.

Abraham has shown flashes of his goalscoring capabilities back in England.

After two prolific loan spells out of three in the Championship – he broke the 20-goal barrier in the second tier for both Bristol City and Aston Villa either side of a trickier spell at Swansea City – circumstances saw Abraham afforded an unlikely opportunity to stake his claim as Chelsea’s starting striker in 2019/20.

He performed well, netting 15 Premier League goals – but he was still displaced the following year. If he can return to his best level, he could prove a useful asset for new West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui – and for a fee as low as £17m, he could represent a real bargain.
